Petrojam Limited recently contributed to the rebuilding efforts of the Walker’s Place of Safety, through its donation of Four Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars ($430,000) to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA), as well as food, clothing and other personal care items. Members of the company’s Community Outreach Committee presented the items to the Chief Executive Officer, CPFSA, Rosalee Gage-Grey at the agency’s Duke Street office on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.
The donation follows a massive fire at the Walker’s Place of Safety Lyndhurst Crescent location on January 15, which claimed the lives of two children and totally destroyed the facility.
Following reports of the fire, a relief drive was immediately launched by Petrojam’s Community Outreach Committee. Both cash and kind were donated by the Board, Management and staff. Members of the public who visited the company’s offices also gave donations.
Public Relations Officer at Petrojam, Latoya Pennant noted, “At the heart of Petrojam’s Corporate Outreach programme is social welfare. We thank all the team members who responded to this relief drive and do hope that our contribution will assist the rebuilding efforts for the Walker’s Place of Safety, so that in as short a time as possible, the children and staff will be reunited.”
