Dr Paul Aiken


Dr Aiken is the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mona-Tech Engineering Services Limited (Mona-Tech), incorporated November 2014. As CEO, he leads a team of engineers to provide a wide range of engineering services including operation and maintenance (O&M) of combined heat and power plants (CHP); maintenance of biomedical, industrial and analytical equipment; specialized technical training; HVAC installation and maintenance; and energy audits and management. Dr Aiken was the chief technical consultant to The University of the West Indies (UWI) in the development of its co-generation plant (CHP) and provides consultancy to academia and industry on many engineering and energy related projects.

Dr. Aiken spearheaded the development and implementation of the Faculty of Engineering at UWI Mona and all its undergraduate and graduate programmes. He was appointed the inaugural Dean of the Faculty in August 2018, a post he held for one year before transferring to the CEO of Mona-Tech.

He holds a PhD and MSc in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Columbia University, New York City, USA, and an MPhil and a BSc in Physics from the University of the West Indies, Mona. He has over 30 years’ experience in several engineering positions in Jamaica and the USA including Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) engineer at UWI and at Columbia University, and a Senior Research and Development and Test Engineer at Intel Corporation, Arizona, USA. He is a Senior Member in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Professional Engineer (PE), who has served on the Engineering Accreditation Committee of the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) and the Continuing Education Committee of the Professional Engineers Registration Board (PERB).
